Thank you Robert. I haven't read the posts after this one, but let's say, I'll start. I have this "handle" because I don't want to use my real name, except in some instances. I am another person on the threads who has an email address. I am someone who is investing for the first time, using my 401(k) money which I rolled into and IRA account. I started with $27k--it's down to 22k on paper. I also have a $10k cash account, down to $9k. I've learned a lot, and the number one lesson I've learned here is that the threads are heavily used for manipulation. That's why I say I'm a conspiracy theorist.
There are at least five types of people out there:
1) Innocent Hypsters, like David P. (IMXS,IMXS!). If he's not innocent, then he's very bad at manipulation.
2) True believers. Harvey, if you're for real, that's you.
3) Naysayers. Craig Crawford. They are necessary.
4) Manipulators. You know who you are, and a lot of us do, too.
5) Rational investors. Like you, Robert. I'd like to become one. It's these people who we need to talk with and listen to. Guys like Kevin Hansen, Steve Messina, and Andrew Vance from the "Picks" thread. I'm not real sure, yet, who qualifies on the GIFS thread.
I do know that I won't place in that 5th category someone who, in one day, becomes a member of SI, calls GIFS, has a personal conversation with the 2nd in command, and is directed by Mike to summarize their conversation for this thread. And I don't necessarily trust those openly supporting that person either. Either they are the same person, they are working in tandem, or I'm in a fog. And it could well be that I'm in a fog. It's just that I'm not going to jump in and believe it all right away. I think we chased Caroline away a bit too soon.
Oh, by the way, I don't think I've posted on the GIFS thread as any other identity, if you are wondering.
