Jamie, I've been following videoconferencing for about a year and most specifically a company called Videolan, it appears in light of what you are saying about Intel that I could have a problem. I agree with you that Picture-Tel is down because it is actually an inferior company in the videoconferencing market.

However, I personally agree with Tony that Videoconferencing is about to explode and I also agree that Intel is not at this time a strong player in the videoconfercing market. Intel being up 40% may have more to do with chip orders and sector strength than Videoconferencing.

Videolan a company which has patents and a new management team is about to explode on this market. In about a week Lucent is going to file a 13g, to puchase 15-20% of Videolan. Rumors abound that Lucent may actually be looking to buy the whole thing.

There is a big difference between corporate Videoconferencing needs and what Intel is currently working on. Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong, but it may be to early to claim an Intel victory in this market. As for Picture-Tel they are/were a one trick pony who is already out of a market it helped pioneer.

If anyone commenting here is interested Videolan has it's own forum on Stock Talk. (VLNT)
