As long as we're reading about what Compaq's Handheld products director thinks of CompactFlash, let's hear what she has to say about Clik!

"Compaq and Iomega are committed to bring enhanced functionality and new solutions to highly mobile users. With improvements in the Windows CE operating system, we see an increasing demand for solutions requiring significantly more storage space and the opportunity to exchange large files easily," said Annie Bacon, director, Handheld Products, Compaq Computer Corporation.

"Increasing the storage capacity of the C-Series with optional Clik! disks and drives from Iomega addresses the need for these requirements and enables new opportunities for C-Series implementations."

This is from the announcement last November of Compaq signing a non-binding letter of intent to bundle Clik! with Compaq handhelds.

I'm sure some people will conclude that the fact that this bundle hasn't shown up in stores yet is proof that Compaq has decided to bypass Clik! That's one possibility. The other is that the bundle will be forthcoming when Clik! supply constraints are resolved.

I should point out that Sanyo said over a year ago that they would build a VCR based on Orb, and they haven't yet. But surely that can't mean that no such product will ever ship. Therefore, we shouldn't worry about the three and a half months that have passed since Compaq signed that letter and Annie Bacon said those nice things about Clik!.
