Chris,

Can you give any insight into the nature of the production/yield problem?

The situation AMD described, yield at 300 and 400MHz- but not 350MHz, is indicative of a circuit design problem called a "race condition". It occurs when a logic path is dependent on the indeterministic arrival of two incoming signals.

Race conditions usually can't be debugged by logic simulation, and require a disciplined circuit design methodology to prevent their occurence. They are normally fixed by inserting a delay chain in one of the paths.

This is the same problem that was described in the last AMD CC.
