I think I see the VVUS strategy - hype an insignificant patent that you know will get lots of play to distract people from the fact that MUSE is a failed product, and hope that someone buys them out.

That's the new rumor...buyout. VVUS actually started this rumor themselves in the recent bloomberg article. They are simply trying to ditch the company and make a few bucks. (Better than spending the next 5-7 years trying to get this patent to market) Unfortunately, I don't think there's a lot of value here, and I doubt they've seen any offers. If there was a buyout coming, the buyer would just have to wait a week or 2, and VVUS falls right back below 3 (maybe even 2).

The general concensus of the scientific people I know is that they'll have a hard time testing this product, and a very hard time time getting approval.

Until we see some clinical data, the patent is virtually worthless.
