Buckeye looks like it's starting to come alive again. Maybe three months of basing is coming to a close this week. Anyone agree? For that matter, is anyone else still following this niche player from the sleepy city on the bluffs?

Management warned of lower forward earnings in December. When one takes into account BKI's multiple, was the sell-off even justified vis a vis, the Dow or S&P 500? Haven't checked IBD, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's evidence of accumulation over the past couple of months. Anyone know?

Morgan Keegan (based is in Memphis as well as BKI) has forecast Buckeye's earnings to be 1.55 in '99 and 1.70 in '00. Zack's, consensus estimates are lower: 1.33 and 1.46, respectively. I tend to trust Morgan Keegan's estimates over Zack's consensus. I've been following this company for three years and they virtually always surprise to the upside (of consensus estimates). Based on a current price of $13.50 and using Morgan Keegan's estimates, a forward PE for 1999 of 8.71 and 7.94 in 2000 seems to low to me for this well managed company which is growing it's top line, buying in their own stock, and consistently beating street estimates (albeit, after adjustment).

Not trying to hype folks, just hoping to inspire someone else into sharing their thoughts on this company so we can bring this board back to life. It will probably never have many posts but if I know several people are watching BKI and posting their thoughts, I will do the same.
