JC: How else can the massive pool of Windows applications be assimilated into Linux while Linux Native applications are being developed? For Linux to make major inroads, it will have to attract large percentages of users who are trained in MS Word, Excel, etc. The only way to make this happen is a Windows emulator. Down the road you're correct but for this network computing to occur a "patched" transition approach is necessary to facilitate major OS migration.
