GoodNoise MP3s to be Bundled With Creative's Project NOMAD Line of Portable Digital Audio Players; Creative to Feature GoodNoise Tracks on Web Site
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- GoodNoise Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: GDNO), the leading seller of downloadable music on the Internet, and Creative Technology Ltd., the renowned innovator of market- leading multimedia solutions for personal entertainment, today announced a strategic partnership focused on promoting the growing market for downloadable music. The partnership was announced Saturday at a press conference at the 1999 New York Music & Internet Expo.
Under the terms of the agreement, which encompasses both marketing and development initiatives, Creative will bundle GoodNoise tracks with its newly announced line of portable digital audio players, include GoodNoise branding on product packaging and collateral, and feature and sell music from the GoodNoise catalog on the Creative website. Creative will also include a copy of FreeAmp, an open source development MP3 player supported by GoodNoise, on the CD included with the new portable digital audio players. In addition, GoodNoise will promote and sell the Creative's line of portable digital audio players on its website. As part of the agreement, the companies will include promotional offers for downloadable music in other Creative products including the Sound Blaster Live! sound cards.
GoodNoise and Creative also plan to work together to enhance existing technology to provide consumers with open, flexible solutions that make purchasing, downloading, storing and playing music extremely easy. For example, GoodNoise and Creative will work to provide an interface between Creative's Project NOMAD line of portable digital audio players and the FreeAmp music player software, which will allow users to easily transfer songs and play lists in FreeAmp directly to the digital music players.
"Much of Creative's success has resulted from a clear understanding of what consumers want," said Gene Hoffman, president and CEO for GoodNoise. "Both GoodNoise and Creative share a passion for providing music fans with easy to use products that empower them to use music the way they want. We're excited about Creative's entry into the portable digital audio player market."
"While much of the music industry has been talking about downloadable music, GoodNoise has been out acquiring content and pioneering the market," said Hock Leow, vice president of multimedia, Creative Technology. "Through these aggressive efforts, GoodNoise has built a catalog of premier content. By combining this content with innovative digital devices undertaken in Project NOMAD to make music portable, we believe we can take electronically distributed music to the next level."
