UNITEC INTERNATIONAL CONTROLS has certainly not been setting the market ablaze with its share price action. Yet, I believe
this company is continuing to quietly go about building is business in a sound manner. Word has it that the C$2 million financing
from SOCO is on its way to the company. There is also word that Sask Power (which is joint venturing with Unitec on a
Bangladesh project) may also teem up with Unitec on Turkey and Greece projects. There also seems to be some potential for
SaskTel Mobility to work with Unitec.

UNITEC WINS FIRST SAUDI ARABIA SCADA PROJECT
Unitec is pleased to announce that it has won its first SCADA system in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia. This system, valued in the high six figures, will monitor and control 9 deep (450 meter)
water wells, a reservoir and a power generating plant via 180 kilometers of underground
telecommunications cable.
This system was quoted in November of 1997 as part of a consortium with Al Harbi Trading &
Contracting Co. Ltd., Unitec's agent, and a local general contractor. After lengthy review of all
local and international bidders, the Al Harbi – Unitec consortium bid was declared the winner.
Al Harbi is a major construction company, contractor and supplier to the Saudi Arabia water,
electricity and oil & gas sectors. Saudi Arabia is the world's largest producer of oil at 8.5 million
gallons per day. It has 25 of the world's largest desalination plants, with 15 more under
construction and produces 17,500 MW of electricity representing a considerable potential for the
Company's SCADA products.
Unitec has delivered two water SCADA systems to the United Arab Emirates and has active
proposals in those and other middle east countries, with an estimated value in the high nine
figures. This order brings Unitec's backlog of contracts in hand and work in progress to
approximately $9 million.
Unitec is an emerging growth company specializing in advanced technology telemetry, SCADA
(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and environmental monitoring equipment for
the water, electricity, oil & gas and transportation sectors. It distributes its products and services
through an expanding network of independent agencies in North and South America, the
Caribbean, Middle East and Southeast Asia.
