why did T chose TDMA

Remember back a few years....

T aquired McCaw's holdings. McCaw was smart enough to bail out of the investment in TDMA when
CMDA first started. They realized that it was going to be a dog.

Then T had so much equity in TDMA that they decided they could make this investment last.

And NO! TDMA can NOT be just changed to CDMA. They would have to tear down the IS 136 stuff,
although could keep all the IS 41 items.
By keeping the IS 41 backbone they could run a dual mode or dual band CDMA system. The backhaul
could be reused, and te towers could be reused.

Although... Most of the tower sites would most likely be redundant, due to the propagation of the IS 95 air
interface.

Just my opinion, as I do not know the details of T's system.

:-)

It should happen, if T were smart. Although, it is unlikely that they would choose IS95 over Wideband
CDMA (CDMA2000)
