From the chat Saturday..some key comments:
Dave Gardy:Lotsaluck you raise a good question. The key to remember is that if the video information is compelling enough for the targeted audience, even limited bandwidth video can generate revenue. That's what we're doing now with our channels. As bandwidth improve , so will the revenue generating applications. have a B>S
05:59:08 PM Dave Gardy:,Melita Cable is a very interesting proposition. Malta actually has fiber to the curb and one of the highest PC penetration rates in the world. We intend here to work with melita cable to bring the better quality video that lotsaluck is dreaming about because they have the pipes for it. To do this we'll create a TVonthe WEB community just for that island and the channels will be demographic narrowcasting like disco's, Malta sports, religion (Malta is 98% catholic) etc. It could become a model
06:16:10 PM Dave Gardy:Hookjock and tower..I can't comment on that. But I will say our business model shows us as profitable much faster than the conventional internet company. In the last few weeks we've been overwhelmed with requests for live webcasts which are the seeds to growing channels. As a result we've been able to keep up with our revenue projections. Live webcasting is beginning to hit critical mass as you probably can tell from the site..
06:20:16 PM markys:Dave took the nickel tour of GMG, very nice facility. Rumor has it GMG did over 4 mil last year care to comment?
06:26:31 PM Dave Gardy:MMarksys..in that neighborhood. Tvonthe web starting out, accounted for about a fifth of those sales. a
06:24:51 PM Dave Gardy:hookjock -the only thing we can't keep up with is the questions on this chat room- (Brian- I'm switching from beer to scotch) . Most of the new revenue we're generating is because we're a known commodity in a very new market. We have a competitive barrier to entry with our lead to market and our narrowcast communities. We strive to preserve that lead every day. Remember- we built most of what you see as a bootstrapping company before we got the investment. Now...watch our growth
06:28:46 PM Dave Gardy:eperry- We've advertised sporadically in niche market trade journals. We're working to launch a more comprehensive campaign that will begin shortly... stay tuned 06:32:55 PM Dave Gardy:kippy- The other investors in TV on the web are two partners from the original Gardy McGrath and two new partners who have started public companies in the past and offer me some great mentoring
06:36:23 PM Dave Gardy:hookjock- Our dominant revenue streams right now are live event production, advertising and the underwriter fees themselves. e-commerce and subscription are beginning to grow in accordance with our channel maturation plan. I would say the more established channels are entering adolescence.hannelalc
06:41:47 PM Dave Gardy:swamp- AOL tv is more geared to distribution , like Microsoft's WEB TV. Anything broadband solution that will help us get our web video on your tv set , we welcome. Remember, people are use to watching dynamic motion on their TV. They don't want to stare at electronic brochures. Narrowcasting video content will be king
06:53:15 PM Dave Gardy:Mike- we got our investment a little over a month ago and are moving as quickly as we can to gear up. We've tripled our workforce in one month and the PR group just gelled last week. There is a lot of confusion in the industry about just exactly what streaming is, so consequently, many don't now how to find those that are in this business. The business press is just finding out that there's more than just Broadcast.com
