I talked to a broker today who said that if the earnings warning does not materialize his firm will be busy thinking up a new rumor. In fact he will be on a conference call this afternoon with other big shots at his firm to brainstorm new ideas for rumors to begin circulating. Some of the top picks for new rumors include:
1. Dell and cpq have launched a secret joint venture to unveil a microprocessorless computer which will run on a new but as yet undisclosed secret process thereby eliminating intc as a supplier.
2. Carl Icahn is buying amd and will give away k6 and k7 to all customers until intc is out of business.
3. Intc chips have been determined by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta to cause Parkinson's disease, Scurvy, Senility, Erectile Dysfunction (as coined by Bob Dole), Insanity, Delerium, and Leprosy and therefore has been banned by the FDA in all computers.

Hopefully we'll get through these very serious rumors!!! Hang in there and don't sell.
