Ken, A segment from the business profile. I don't profess they have
a niche market, but suggest it's one direction the Internet is going.
Notice wavo connections to Intc and Msft. It's one solution to the
to the race. PC to TV or TV to PC. IMO.

WavePhore is actually a successor of a Tucson, Arizona-based company called Production Services, which dabbled in high-definition television. Intrigued by the company's innovative research, Deeds bought Production Services in 1990 and renamed it WavePhore. In part, the company's mission was to bring content to the PC using television broadcasting signals rather than the telephone lines upon which the Internet is so dependent. The company was in development until it went public in 1994.

With the financial boost of the IPO, in 1995 WavePhore began putting the necessary pieces together to market its technology: It acquired Montreal-based BlueMont Telecom (software engineering) and Salt Lake City-based Mainstream Data (broadcasting networks operator). In 1997 WavePhore added content to its systems framework, acquiring Paracel Online Systems, a content provider. The company has alliances with Intel and Microsoft, which included WaveTop in its Windows 98 operating system. WavePhore officially launched WaveTop in 1998.
