I believe that you are referring to the other model (not HFC), which was Switched Digital Video, or SDV.

SDV was another approach that has, for all intents and purposes, been abandoned. HFC is actually the platform that supports the cable modem which you acknowledged was working okay.

That's a somewhat incongruous statement, IMO. Pacbell's abandonment of the HFC model signaled their retreat from cable TV in general, at the time, and had to do with factors which were outside those related to HFC's basic integrity. I don't like telling this story second hand. Is there a Ray Jensen in the house? Maybe someone closer to that situation like Ray [ot Tim] can elaborate on why PB decided to take a powder.
