Thanks for that link. I'm adding it to my collection of other cities who are preparing campaigns and booklets to help prepare their citizens for Y2K. I had another major city in Minnesota yesterday, but lost the link. UK is planning on a campaign & materials to be initiated and distributed within the next 2 months.

ILLINOIS MAY URGE Y2K KIT IN HOMES
SPRINGFIELD -- Only one in four agencies in Illinois is fully prepared for the Year 2000 computer bug, and the state may encourage residents to put together Y2K ''preparedness kits'' later this year ...

The Illinois Emergency Services Agency is preparing a response plan to present to Ryan May 1 that may include a proposal for residents to have short-term ''preparedness kits'' on hand as 2000 approaches. The kits Chamness envisions would include 72 hours' worth of ''nonperishable food, bottled water, a flashlight, a battery-operated radio, necessary medications.''

WASHINGTON D.C. TO LAUNCH CAMPAIGN TO INFORM CITIZENS HOW TO PREPARE FOR Y2K
The city will launch a campaign next month aimed at informing residents about ways to deal with potential difficulties, Hanley (DC Y2K Project Manager).

“You can do the marauder approach and move to the mountains and take everyone, including your mother-in-law, and hole up for a year,” she said. “Or you can buy four weeks worth of water [and food], put $100 in your pocket and make sure you are safe in your home.”
