No brainer # 35: LCOS -
LCOS leaped 13 to 96 1/2 today as David Wetherell, CEO of CMGI, which owns 19% of LCOS, resigned from LCOS board and announced his opposition to USAI's takeover based on price. Wetherell is one of the genius's of the internet and a major force. LCOS chart says 116 is right around the corner, at least to me. I bot back in today at 97, after declining to buy this %^%&^@%@$# POS at 84 yesterday. But the game changed dramatically today with Wetherell's resignation and his announced intention to get a better price for LCOS.
Barry Diller, CEO of USAI, has a history of winning drawn out merger deals, but he also has a record of losing. He lost a bid for CBS and he lost the battle for Paramount.
This should be a battle of titans: Wetherell vs Diller (and his buddy Bronfman writing checks in the background). I'll bet on Wetherell, at least till 116. think 130-140 is very doable too. downside risk - maybe 85-90, IMO. larry
