FVC.COM and Other Market Leaders Join Forces for Videoconferencing Interoperability Demonstration

Business Wire - March 09, 1999 08:27

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)---March 9, 1999---FVC.COM (Nasdaq:FVCX), the leader in enterprise video networking, is demonstrating interoperability with products from companies including Accord, Intel Corporation, PictureTel Corporation, Polycom, Inc., RADVision, Sony Electronics Corporation and V-Tel Corporation in the International Multimedia Teleconferencing Consortium (ITMC) Pavilion (Booth no.1009) at MultiMediaCom.

The installation, open today through Thursday, demonstrates multi-vendor, cross-standard videoconferencing between H.320 (ISDN) and the emerging H.321 (ATM) and H.323 (IP) end points. FVC.COM's V-Gate provides ISDN, ATM and IP translation transparently so users can initiate or participate in videoconferences without being concerned about which standards are being employed. The company's Access NGI switch is at the core, providing Ethernet and ATM connectivity for various vendors. "This demonstration shows just how easy videoconferencing has become," said Rich Beyer, president and CEO of FVC.COM. "Along with our fellow ITMC members, we are committed to continue this trend by developing and implementing international standards that help our enterprise customers deploy multimedia networks."
