Thanks guys, that makes sense. Now I have another question for you pros.

A company that I own and have been charting myself, JDS Fitel (JDS-TORONTO), is doing a merger of equals with Uniphase (UNPH). This was announced ~6 weeks ago. Two shares of JDS will equal approx. 1 share of UNPH. Hence the stocks now track each other in this ratio. I don't know which stock is leading which. I am assuming that the UNPH is leading JDS just because it is a US company. It may be the other way, I'm not sure. Also, the can/us exchange would have an effect on one or the others chart.

What does this merger do to the P&F charts of both companies? Does one or both become invalid from the merger announcement? Does a new chart really start from the date of the announcement as it is a new company? I may be charting JDS for nothing.

What happens P&Fwise in a case like this?
