At this point, EFAX offers a free service to receive faxes. I don't believe they are involved in the sending of faxes. All the numbers, to my knowledge, are in Illinois. Mine is in the 815 area code. I live in California. I have checked my telephone bill for faxes sent. Most of mine are one minute faxes sent to a factory I represent that is 32 miles from my house. Cost is .14 per minute. A one minute fax to Milwaukee, WI cost me .28. Big deal! This service allows me to use only two phone lines in my office instead of three. When I print the faxes they come out on nice paper from my laser printer instead of on a roll from my ten year old fax machine. Before using this service, I used one phone line for voice communication and the other was shared between my fax machine and my computer modem. I can now be connected to the Internet without worrying about having the fax line tied up. Instead of walking over to the fax machine to see if anything new has come in, I can click my mouse. The service also allows me to pick up faxes while traveling without having to notify my customers of another number to punch in. Today, one prospective customer called me and gave me his phone and fax numbers. When he read me his fax number (815-3something) I asked him if it was an EFAX number. He replied that is was and that he was very happy with the service. So am I! If I have learned one thing about investing it is that you should buy stock in companies that offer something you use. This is a winner!
