I couldn't have put it better myself, but that won't stop me from trying.
I decided to check in on this, one of our larger threads, tonight and was quite chagrined at what I saw in only a few messages. Professionally and personally embarrassing.
Out of perhaps 50 messages that I've read, I've already deleted about 4 or 5 of them.
I'll continue to read and delete where appropriate and will likely end up PM'ing a few folks.
Everyone, there are places on SI (Coffee Shop threads) where a "chat-room" approach is perfectly acceptable, but please keep it off this thread. Occasional off-topics are fine, but excessive off-topics aren't, especially the sexually-laced kind.
