You're totally right, even internally people realize that the internet race is a race that (even with a good product) Progress is not well positioned for (for a number of reasons). Over the years, the organization has become quite fat and so not agile enough to drive on the fast internet vendor lane. In addition, their frequent turnover of Marketing VPs has contributed to the lack of coherent positioning and trust with analysts. There has been major turnover in both the exec league and the salesforce and last but not least, the search for a CEO has gone on too long - clearly the incumbent (the founder) doesn't want to step down, I wonder what the board of directors think of all this.... It's a shame as they have a great 4GL and good distribution channels, so they'll definitely be a take over candidate. They have a very nice maintenance stream that will keep them floating for a while
