Little secret for y'all. When clicking the download button, also be holding down the shift key. This will let you choose the directory to download to.

Also it is wise to note the name of the file you are downloading. You can then use the "Find" tool to locate the downloaded file.

Another trick is to start downloading the file again and note where your computer wants to put it. Cancel the download and go to the directory where Windows was going to put it. Chances are the previously downloaded files are there.
