NS Provides Integrated DVD Chip 03/08/99 Korea Times Copyright (C) 1999 Korea Times; Source: World Reporter (TM) National Semiconductor Korea is scheduled to introduce 'DVD on a chip', coded 'NDV8401' which provides every function such as the micro processor, transport, MPEG video, AC3 decoder, CSS signal dissolution, NTSC/PAL transformation and video DAC for DVD(Digital Video Disk) player's tail in a single chip. The chip, developed by Mediamatic satisfies every DVD standard specified by 6 districts and can replays other disks such as a CDDA, a Video CD and a super VCD . An official of this company said this brand-new IC chip would promote competitiveness since the player with that chip can be provided at the price of under $300. The company also plans to provide the circuit kit typed product as well as a chip.
