Don't laugh. When a paid caller doing fund-raising for a certain conservative PAC telephoned me at home recently, the paid caller's script referred to "our pro-death oppenents". So delighted was I at their boldness, I agreed to send in a donation.

I know that in 1996, in the heart of the Christian Coalition Nat'l Convention, a man in the audience at a small "break-out session" was asking a question, referring the "pro-death" people. The speaker running the session admonished him to not use inflamatory language. That for our political objectives, that would be an unwise practice. I guess the soft-shoe approach has not worked, because look where Repubs are today (if we believe the polls).

I for one am ready to try a different approach.
