Level 3 Communications Announces Closing of 28.75 Million Share Offering of Common Stock Net Proceeds to Be Used to Implement Business Plan OMAHA, Neb., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT - news) today announced that it has closed the offering of 28.75 million shares of its common stock in an underwritten offering. In the offering, the company received proceeds of approximately $1.5 billion after underwriting discounts and commissions, but before offering expenses. The number of shares offered by the company includes 3.75 million shares of common stock sold to the underwriters to cover over-allotments. The offering was made by a group of underwriters led by Salomon Smith Barney Inc., Goldman, Sachs & Co., Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, J.P.
