Had a similar problem that proved to be a software conflict. In my case it was Norton's Utility. Created boot disks and started over with new Windows installation. Then re-installed essential software, after closing any previously installed programs that were loaded (an instruction I ignored before) by <Cont> + <Alt> + Delete followed by "End" before installing other software software.

Now I have minimized automatic, bootup loading and have no problems. Hope your problem is as simple. With the number of programs you mentioned in the post this could be snafoo.
