RE: Goldman and technical sells

It is not slimy for Goldman to have a technical sell and a fundamental buy on a stock.

Technical analysis and fundamental analysis have nothing to do with each other. The technical analyst sees the stock break down through the 100 day moving average and makes a call. The fundamental analyst sees that nothing has changed in the industry or the company and retains his rating. How is that slimy?

Indeed, I would question things much more if the fundamental analyst followed suit and changed his rating in response to this 'rumor.'

This isn't so much an issue of the questionable ethics of Wall Street as it is the questionable worth of a technical analyst on Wall Street.
