I agree, and as long as they feel this way they will use a stable gold price as a stablizing factor. How do we get their view of gold to change to...no big deal, just let it float?

Probably when they opt to sell the 14 years worth of gold production they have locked up under their control.

Letting gold "float" would necessitate a divestment of the CB's monopolistic holdings of the metal, with drastic downward price repercussions.
