High Order Stream Anomalies Mizek, Kazakstan
VANCOUVER, Feb. 14 /CNW/ - Steppe Gold has undertaken a detailed stream sediment survey for gold and base metals covering 1500 square kilometres within the Mizek Exploration Licence. The results have been very encouraging defining new areas of potential mineralisation and targets along strike from known mineralisation, which have had no surface geochemical exploration.
Four high priority areas have been defined which warrant further work during 1997.
MIZEK ANOMALY:
A large anomaly with a peak value of 10,700 ppb gold with anomalous silver and zinc extends over an area of 10 by 10 kilometres centered on the Mizek gold deposit. Some of the anomalies are obviously derived from the outcropping Mizek oxide orebody where Steppe Gold is undertaking a feasibility study. However, large portions of the anomaly have potential for the discovery of new zones of gold mineralisation.
ANOMALY A:
Anomaly A is a high order gold, silver and lead anomaly which extends over a strike of 7 kilometres. Bedrock is obscured by a thin veneer of soil and the anomaly is located in an identical geological and geographical setting to know mineralisation 12 kilometres along strike to the west. The geological setting in this area is very favourable for large high grade Au-Cu VMS deposits.
ANOMALY B:
Anomaly B is located to the north of the Central Mizek gold deposit. This area has previously had little exploration attention. This strong gold, silver and zinc anomaly extends over a strike of 12 kilometres.
ANOMALY C:
This base metal - gold anomaly expands markedly the target area around the know base metal-gold deposits. It correlates well with the principle host geology for base metal-gold mineralisation in the region. The northern portion of this anomaly is coincident with a high order untested soil anomaly.
In addition to these major anomalies 21 gold targets have been defined by 1 to 5 anomalous samples. Approximately 3,000 square kilometres of the Mizek licence remains to be prospected with stream geochemistry.
Steppe Gold plans to undertake a ground reconnaissance program early in the coming summer and to target specific areas with soil geochemistry prior to drill evaluation of the anomalies. Steppe Gold is highly encouraged by the results and believes it augers well for discovery of additional gold mineralisation during the 1997 field season. The results of this survey clearly indicate that the Mizek trend has potential to host globally significant VMS base metal deposits with high precious metal credits.
