Re: OC24

Took me a while to dig up my figures from when I was researching starting up an ISP, but have finally found them.

I believe I saw mention here than an OC24 was good for up to 164,000 customers (sorry if I've got the number wrong).

My own figures indicate 200,000 to 250,000. Here's the math:

28.8k bandwidth can accommodate about 5 or 6 customers.
T1 is ~50 times 28.8k bandwidth
OC24 is ~800 times T1 bandwidth

OC24Custs=(OC24BandWidth/28.8kBandWidth) * 5 ' or 6
OC24Custs=40,000 * 5 ' or 6
OC24Custs=200,000 or 240,000 (nudge up a bit because T1 is actually a *bit* wider than 50 times 28.8k)

Can someone double-check me on this?
