Let me clarify: VLNC is not the sole owner of Lithium-Polymer battery technology. My understanding is they license it and they have some patents related to battery components. So anyone can make Lithium-Polymer batteries, and in fact, VLNC has competition from companies such as 3M. Considering that the battery market is intensely competititive and low margin, I don't quite understand why anyone would pay $200 million for a battery manufacturer that has never come up with a commercially viable product.
