My only thought is that if IBM et. al. sell Linux servers, and don't want to have to reinvent the Red Hat Linux service/support capability, they would buy some equity in RedHat. Then, they work a deal with RedHat to support the new IBM Linux customers, maybe even having special phone lines answered, "IBM Linux Hotline!"

If IBM, HWP, CPQ, and any others all arrange for Linux customer support through RedHat, it is gonna be quite a valuable company.
