I remember a year or so this same thing happened to stock. The market makers shorted it and it stayed in the toilet. The stock was OVIS. Then someone on SI named RileyG went around and managed to get everyone to call their certs in and the market makers were forced to cover since they didn't have any shares to borrow. Maybe we can do the same thing here.
