I think archival storage is best suited for the "network" as a whole. If I want to watch a replay of the seminal sporting event of the century (with all prejudices intact), I eventually will be able to connect to ESPN.com or a fictional entertainment.com and call up the 6th game of the 1975 World Series or the last episode of MASH or the 3/12/99 edition of Wall Street Week. I don't need to store it locally.
Let the network store it. The public (ex the early adopters) does not have the knowledge, capacity, ability, or desire (given an alternative) to store large data files.
