OK! Just let me grab my shield and ramshorn helmet and I'll be ready to go! My hairdresser, an avid opera buff from Manhattan, could name all of the Valkyrie, a really impressive feat. Let's go with your final definition--satisfies both of us. Not to get this started again but gotta ask-I studied the Waldstein in high school but can't remember enough to discuss this intelligently.. my memory of the third movement is a very strong Tonic/Dominant--at least to begin with--rolling arpeggios moving from C to G in the right hand and the most gorgeous melody played by a crossed over left. Very firm harmonically...but then I blank on the rest...lots of scales...in what way do they see him forsaking traditional harmonies? Or maybe my ear accepts things that they didn't back then. BTW, I hated Immortal Beloved. Did you see it? Where and what did you study? You seem to know your stuff! Your faithful and fierce Brunnhilde
