Kent, I cannot speak to the particulars of the flex/flip chip industry.
I can note that in my "other job" we sell lube and fuel products all over Asia, including the People's Republic of China. Well about two months ago in Korea (S), Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Australia, our fuels/ lubes sales have picked up. In Japan , Indonesia, and Malaysia still going sideways. In China it never quit growing.
But I'm not sure that that matters currently since most components constructed by AFLX probably end up in electronic goods sold in Eurpe and North America. I'd focus more on end use demand in mass data storage (EMC types of companies); wireless build outs; disk drive sales; sales of lap tops palm tops, and enhanced cellular phones as the Qualcomm/Microsoft, and Nokia/Motorola wireless systems become reality later in 1999 (allow secure tranfer of data/email by wireles systems); and finally PC demand.... |
