Frankly Steve I think most women, excluding professionals, are worse off today than they were thirty years ago. When a housewife went to work back in the 60s she took home raw cash that could be used to buy a second car, boat, summer cottage and such. Now most wives are forced into the job market just to pay the light bill and mortgage.
If women call that progress they must be nuts.

When I was a kid, back in the fifties, all of the moms stayed home and took care of the house and kids. The dads, all blue collar workers, made enough money to buy a house, one car, and be able to live a relatively comfortable life on their income alone. Most of them were able to send their kids to college.

The housewives of the fifties looked a lot happier than the married women I see at the office today. It's not much fun working when most of the money is already spent before you get the paycheck.
