Michael,
Not a very scientific analysis, but I just had a brief chat with our local UPS driver, and asked him about deliveries of computers. He said the last 3 weeks he hasn't delivered nearly as many PCs as he usually does. He also mentioned that Gateway appeared to be the most popular supplier along his route this year. Interestingly, he owns some CPQ stock and mentioned that he was getting concerned about not seeing as many CPQ boxes on the truck of late. On the other hand, he also stated that he was looking to buy more CPQ now that it's available at bargain basement prices.
Folks, I still say this whole drop seems too coincidental to me. While we sat around planning for 60PAQ, some very large institutional holders were privy to other information in late Feb. that allowed them/their clients to exit prior to the carnage. If CPQ does warn, then I believe that EP, EM and CPQ IR have clearly shown they have no credibility whatsoever. Maybe I've seen Conspiracy Theory once too often, but IMO something about all of this seems to be cleverly orchestrated.
Best of luck to all CPQ longs, looks like we'll need it. As we consider the dent in our investment accounts over the past few weeks, the only thing we can really do is ask ourselves, "What have we learned from this?"
Regards,
