John Malone on Net deal trail

The Internet is in the sights of Tele-Communications Inc. chief John Malone. After winning approval to merge the cable giant with AT&T this week, Malone now says he plans to acquire minority stakes in Web firms and other media companies, The Wall Street Journal reported. The deal-maker par excellence explained that as part of his chairman's duties at Liberty Media Corp., he'll be looking for 25-30 percent equity interests. Not on his list of things to buy is General Electric's NBC, Malone said. "We've never paid big dollars to buy big businesses," he told the Journal.
