VANCOUVER, B.C. (March 10, 1999) – Biometric Security Corp. (BMS-VSE), (www.fingerprintid.com) has an agreement to acquire 45% of Biometric Identification, Inc. (BII) (www.biometricid.com) and currently has made payments for debentures convertible into 32% of the company. BII is a leading innovator in creating and applying fingerprint authorization and verification technology.
BII has announced that WSE, formerly Westinghouse Security Electronics, Inc. (www.wse.com), has chosen to use BII's fingerprint verification systems. A global supplier of electronic access control systems and peripheral equipment, WSE has integrated BII's advanced biometric access control solution in its secure door controller product line. The new Biometric ID-based solutions will be on display in the WSE booth (#841) at the ISC Show in Las Vegas, March 10 – 12.
WSE is using BII's fingerprint technology in its NexSentry Controller 4100 series of access controllers. These access control devices feature an innovative modular design, one that allows maximum versatility for tailoring secure and dependable Access Control and Security Management solutions for any facility, regardless of size.
BII's self-contained fingerprint identification and verification device includes BII's patented high-performance ridge recognition algorithm coupled with a fully programmable microprocessor. The high capacity device stores extensive transaction logs and many thousands of fingerprints, making it an ideal solution for adding enhanced security to existing access control systems. The fingerprint device, which can replace or interface with magnetic stripe cards and proximity readers, verifies an individual's identity in less than one second.
"By integrating Biometric Identification's fingerprint authorization and verification system into our state-of-the-art NexSentry Controller, our users get heightened security and greater convenience without the expense and hassle of installing and administering a separate Biometric system," said WSE Director of Product Development George Sousa. "Biometric Identification's fingerprint verification devices provide one of the best and most cost-effective options for bringing enhanced biometric security solutions to our customers."
BII's full-finger, patented Ridge Pattern Recognition fingerprint verification software system images the entire two-dimensional ridge pattern of the fingerprint, providing several times more accuracy than other Biometric-based systems at one-quarter the size and half the cost. The BII system that is integrated into WSE's NexSentry Controller also features a compact, 4" x 5" fingerprint reader that enrols a user in less than five seconds and verifies identity in less than one second.
"We're very pleased that WSE, one of the world's leading electronic security systems companies, has chosen to integrate our verification and authorization technology," said Bob Kamm, President and CEO of Biometric Identification Inc. "WSE's customers will experience even higher security with greater convenience, an achievement for which both companies can be very proud."
