Amusing :) Looks like Intel designed the PSN into Dixon as well as Katmai, then decide not to formally implement it there. Wonder why not? After all it makes lots more sense for a notebook than for a desktop - to identify stolen notebooks for instance.

Sounds to me like someone got the bright idea that this was a great, important feature for which the market would salivate. Better to bundle it into the great PIII introduction? Oh well, that makes it two strikes with this ill conceived thing. I wonder how much commercial production and ad copy went into the dumpster once Intel got wind that PSN was a negative thing?

In all seriousness this "bug" is a nit - sort of an oddity with no merit. I think it makes the affected notebooks into collector items, sort of like coins with idiosyncratic defects.
