I can understand being mesmerized by it, I can understand liking it, I can understand falling for it and wallowing in it while it lasts. I'm sure I'd do all three if I had the chance. What I can't understand is thinking that it's all real, and that it's going to last forever, and howling when it doesn't. Unfortunate but true, the single most important skill for the man who wants to get laid a lot is lying with a straight face. Now if only I could suppress this anachronistic conscience and learn to do it....
