Are you saying that you remove all programs from startup? So that the machine boots up and "worries" only about starting the operating system? The last few products that I've installed all install themselves in such a manner that they start up upon bootup. So now, on my system tray, I have pretty icons signifying AIM, mouse, First Aid, CheckIt, Real Networks, and NetSonic.

Your method, I think, would require manual start up of all these.

I wonder about software junkies, people who continuously buy and load off the shelf programs. People who have 22 icons in their system trays!
