I'm patient--though perhaps not as patient as Jay or John P.

By "build out", I presume you're talking about getting DSLAM's into the CO's. Classic chicken and egg. And the RBOC's won't move until they've got their existing (ISDN) equipment fully depreciated. At least, that seems to be Bell Atlantic's strategy. Oh, and then they'll crawl in areas where they have any concentration of T1 lines. (When they can get $1,000 for one line, why offer $40 lines?). For much of BA's area they have no competition from Cable modems.

A fear I have is that CPQ and Dell will offer the option, and no one will come. No reason to buy it if it doesn't work in your area.

Does anyone have an estimate of what percentage of CO's nationwide have DSL capability today? I seem to remember that the number for cable modems is something under 40%, and DSL is way lower.

<The relationship between Pair and TI will be a great plus to boot.>

Can you elaborate on the relationship, please?

Best,
JS
