Hello, Cal

Glad you went long on ASND. Doesn't matter much if you take a position at 57 or 62 ... same for CSCO. These are solid stocks at fair prices regardless of what the doom-sayers post on the threads. Here's something that may be good for ASND and not so good for CSCC:

***************************

TORONTO, Feb 14 (Reuter) - Newbridge Networks Corp and
remote access networking company Ascend Communications appear
to be close to inking a wide-ranging technology partnership, a
source familiar with the situation said on Friday.

Rumors about such a union have been circulating for several
weeks and many Canadian and U.S. analysts have said Newbridge
and Ascend are ideally suited for a partnership.

"We are getting increasing indications that Ascend and
Newbridge are about to announce an alliance similar Newbridge's
current alliance with Siemens," the source said.

Last time we talked I said you were not too early on going long on CSCC ... that was before COMS put a pall on all the networkers. Oh well.

As for WIND, I thought proper entry was 42ish. As long as the stock closed above 42 I don't even look at it. Alot of people got their shares pulled away from them when their stops were tripped at 44ish. A 3-2 split was announced today and earnings out on 2/27.

On stocks like WIND, QCOM, and DDIM ... it's difficult to know when they will move big time. I don't like being out of the stock when they do, so I'm willing to ride the volatility as long as critical support holds. WIND was basing at 47ish, critical support was 42ish, mm's will take the stock below critical support to collect inventory. Some people don't believe in mm manipulation. To each their own, always.

A partial position on weakness before earnings seems reasonable, although WIND may not see 40-42 again. But maybe Barron's will hit WIND again. Interesting that WIND has proved resilient to Barron's and the Wall Street Journal a few months ago. Other stocks that were deemed way overpriced corrected or tanked. Perhaps WIND traversing from 53 to 40 constituted a correction. Dubious since it lasted only a week or two.

Still holding your ALTR short? What is your view on CUBE now? Have a nice weekend, Cal.
