RFID Systems Corporation To Host Saudi Delegation in Silicon Valley
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1999-- RFID Systems Corporation (OTC BB: RFID) announced today that a delegation of high-ranking representatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will arrive in Silicon Valley the week of March 22, 1999. A series of meetings will be held at Hewlett-Packard (HP) Headquarters in Cupertino, California. The purpose of the meetings is to accomplish two primary objectives.
Firstly, RFID's "EPICS" (Electronic Personnel Identification and Control Systems) are mission critical and are therefore architected using HP servers, network and desktop workstations. Hewlett-Packard executives will be briefed regarding the scope of the overall business opportunities.
The second objective is to finalize an implementation schedule for the initial pilot project for the adoption of "EPICS" by Saudi Arabia. It is planned that HP, in addition to providing the core computing systems, will also become the primary systems integrator for this project. Preliminary estimates for "EPICS" technology within Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperative Council countries are for a long term potential approaching a billion dollars for RFID and HP.
In clarifying the previous Technical Delegation from Saudi Arabia news release dated January 14, 1999, RFID was not able to reach agreement with Spectrum Arabieh as its marketing arm in the Middle East and Arabian Gulf. RFID Systems Corporation will continue to work closely with its agent in Saudi Arabia, FAF/RFID, to pursue business in this region.
RFID develops and markets a unique proprietary family of identification and authentication systems for the rapidly expanding enterprise security market as well as large scale identification/authentication applications. These systems can stand-alone or be integrated within the company's proven radio frequency biometrics technology to provide greater levels of security.
