Tokyo--Mar 11--Trade talks on zinc treatment charges for 1999 long-term
contracts between Japanese smelters and overseas miners are unlikely to
make progress in the near term even though the 2 sides narrowed their price
differentials during talks in February, Japanese traders said today.
Japanese smelters have remained hesitant to hold further talks with
overseas miners on fears of a low TC settlement price following a reference
provided by the TC settled recently between South Korea's Korea Zinc Co.
