<I think improving the treatment of autism would be a great benefit to those who suffer from it and to their families, especially if it can be done more economically.> I can give you an opinion from personal experience with "autistic spectrum", but lower level than what you would think of as a severe case. IMO it is diet that is the ultimate cure, although of course that is not to say that this drug would be part of a "turnaround" therapy for a period of time. I will also say that anecdotal evidence shows that anti-biotics(!!! Who pushes these on kids??) are probably culprits in screwing up the digestive system. Current "cutting edge" therapy includes anti-fungal drugs killing off yeast overgrowth, and possibly reintroduction of normal bacteria into the digestive system... I guess this is where RGEN would come in. The sad part is few doctors have a clue about any of this and parents must be very strong to go with their own observations and ignor what their doctor is telling them. Many people have to just go ahead and contact those who will do tests for such things as "fatty acid deficiencey, yeast infestation, and food allergies themselves... and THEN find out from those people who the doctors are in their area who will work with them. Getting long winded here, but at the risk of 'scientific treason' I would also say that this disorder may be an example of an unusual case where the scientific method actually backfires in todays society. In other words: Few doctors will even talk about therapies backed up by word of mouth (anecdotal evidence) only. Since (up till now?) there has been no money to be made in running "scientific trials" to validate the anecdotal evidence of dietary therapy (in fact major culprits are things like food, and dairy industry... so there is actually money to be LOST), we just stumble along letting anecdotal evidence become scientific evidence by becoming overwhelming which could take years. Bottom line... I do NOT believe this will be a pill that will be taken long term to cure autism... it may be part of a therapy. Currently anti-fungal's are taken up to 2 years, but usually much shorter period if diet is properly followed (9 months is my experience). Hope this helps. ENOUGH DAK
