Energold Mining Ltd EGD Shares issued 14,340,394 1999-03-10 close $0.71 Wednesday Mar 10 1999 Mr. H. Walter Sellmer reports Energold has received the results from the first seven of 20 holes drilled during a recently completed 1,221 metre drill program on the Longyear property, 3.5 kilometres to the southwest of Pueblo Viejo in the Dominican Republic. The 20 holes were drilled mainly within a 350 by 600 m area in which pit and trench sampling returned 1.2 grams of gold per tonne from oxidized near-surface material.

The first seven holes cover about one-third of the southeast flank of the target area at approximately 200 m spacing. Individual one metre assay results range up to 5.9 grams of gold per tonne, 103 grams of silver per tonne, 7.27 per cent copper and 1.59 per cent zinc. Zones of disseminated and near massive to massive sulphides are observed to be parallel to the foliation of the enclosing schists; gold and silver mineralization are noted to occur over a vertical interval of in excess of 100 m of true thickness and up to 70 m downhole, generally associated with sulphides, locally with graphite and frequently with massive sulphides within strongly sericite-altered zones, but controls and distribution remain poorly defined at this excessively wide spacing. Results from the second of three shipments (holes 2051-8 to 13 and 2051-15) are expected to be available within days. The third shipment (holes 2051-14 and 2051-16 to 20) were shipped to Chemex in Toronto on March 9, 1999, and should be available within two weeks. Core sampling was completed by sawing the core in half and taking one metre samples for the entire length of the core. Samples consisting of one metre lengths of half core were crushed to minus one centimetre and passed through a riffle splitter to obtain a .5 kilogram sample which was shipped to Chemex in Toronto for analysis using standard preparation and assay techniques. Check samples and duplicates were routinely inserted to ensure reliability of the data. (c) Copyright 1999 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com |
