Good Morning Tom :

I have a special request.

The church that I am a long time member of , as I have alluded to before has grown exponentially, from 60 members to 600 + in a little over 8 years.

Just due to the design of the building and the lay of the land we are busting at the seams; parking is a current headache and a potential nightmare in view of future growth.

We got backed into a corner and had no choice but to purchase 13 level acres of land right in the corporate limits. If there is a drawback to the land it is hidden from the high volume traffic flows we had at the present location; but the layout of the land is just wonderful. It is behind the community college, behind an apartment complex and behind a shopping center; totally hidden but right smack dab in the middle of everything if that makes sense.

My request is for the elements of the transition; it is a major move. I personally have misgivings about the change of location because my wife's great aunt put her house up as collateral for the purchase of the existing church property 18 years ago; so you might say we have roots on the present spot. However, we have no choice if we wish to grow further. It is a no brainer.

Secondly; I have always "run" from positions of responsibility in our church. I prefer to take a more low key approach in my participation. When they elect elders I usually do not even attend that Sunday; I just do not want the job.

Well , my pastor came to me and told me he wants me to be on the elder board during this very important transition time. In fact the elder board appointed me for a recent vacancy. I talked with him for 1 1/2 hrs and pretty much laid out all my shortcomings to him and then what I felt were my strengths. I said if you can take me warts and all I'll do it. He said he had already made up his mind before he called me. So, we have a very important meeting tonight. Please pray for the whole elder board; including moi.

SPECIAL PRAISE !!!!!!!!!! Look at request #11 on this post...shortly thereafter God moved in a mighty way and took over like a STORM...I'll fill everyone in on the details as we go along but The soveriegn God we all serve, left us all in the DUST with the decisiveness and power of this latest move.. In Christ.gregor
